EAA M88 pistol

Dose anyone know the specific "safety" operation of the EAA M88 .40 pistol? Specifically weather the safety acts as a decocker when engaged as on the mokrov or, if the safety allows the hammer to remain in the single action when engaged?

I'm thinking that the safety allows the hammer to remain in the single action when engaged and, retards the trigger from being pulled and, the hammer from falling.

Or, is it like the STAR pistols in operation? Also, I'm curious of the STAR's safety operation as well. I have always been unnerved at the fact that you can still pull the trigger and the hammer will fall after the safety has been engaged.

I think it retards the firing pin so you can pull the trigger and allow the hammer to fall safety to the slid much like a less refined version of the beretta or, S&W operation minus the built in decocker.

Info on both pistols safety operations would be useful.

Hello everyone!
First post. I was looking for info on this very pistol so i thought I'd share my observations.

I got to handle one of these the other day at a surplus store in Spokane.

The saftey does not drop the hammer! The gun can indeed be carried cocked and locked.
"Up" is fire, "down" is safe. Since the safety is slide mounted it feels a bit odd, but nothing one can't get used to.

I stripped the gun, the trigger group comes out in one chunk, just like any other Tok. The grips come off like any other Tok.

It has a magazine disconnect device.
However, it looked very easy to remove.

Heh, it comes with a tiny brass padlock and has a hole in one butt to lock the magazine out of the weapon. That, combined with the magazine disconnector no doubt helps make the gun importable.

I was quite temped to buy the little thing. It was quite flat and would make a nice carry gun...If you can find a holster to fit it...

The price tag was about $280.00 and it only came with one mag.
Remembering the days of the Chinese guns I thought it was a little over priced. I hope the cost on these come down because for some reason it really felt good in my hand and I sure wouldn't mind one!

They do have EAA carved on 'em, but EAAs web site does not list 'em. i wonder what's up with that.
