EAA shooting WAY below point of aim

Grouping isn't too too bad (though not great), but impact is at least six inches below aimpoint at ten yards.

Where do I get replacement sights for EAA? I assume Brownells has them, but could anybody tell me where to look on the web or in my new catalog? (I'm pretty green.)

Or does this suggest some gunsmithing problem?

I have a EAA Witness TacII in 45 ACP that has the same problem. Actually I've heard of this from several people. Mine is low by about the same mount as yours. You should spend some time over at the CZ Clone Club forum http://pub105.ezboard.com/fczechpistols82792frm35 and do some searches...you'll find several threads on this.

The prevailing wisdom seems to be 1) compensate for it yourself, 2) "peen" the bottom of the barrel opening on the slide to slightly raise the barrel, 3) get replacement adjustable rear sights (if that's an option for your slide type) or 4) have the front sight milled lower (not really an option since they are short in the first place)

You can order adjustable sights from EAA or from savvysurvivor.com but make sure you get the right sight for you slide type. I have to get a Supersight on the TAC slide because of the dovetail type.

You could probably reduce the height of the front sight enough to get it on target... little bit of height can make a pretty big difference in point of impact.

I've never owned a 45ACP EAA but I'm kind of disappointed to see this type of QC... or lack of QC. I used to recommend the EAAs in 9mm and 40 along with the Taurus PT99 as a full size non-45 on a budget. Lately I've kind of crossed over to just recommending CZs.

If it is just a little low you can file the front sight down to bring the impact up.

Last week I was checking out the used gun case at a gun shop. Low and behold, there was a EAA Witness full size with an LPA adjustable rear sight. This one must have shot pretty low too, since the previous owner had filed the front sight down to the point that is was just a little tab left on the front of the slide. It could not have been much more than 1/16 inch tall!

Must have shot really low.

The E.E.A. Witness Target model has a pretty decent adjustable rear sight that will interchange with any of the dovetail sights. For a factory sight to locks well and has a good sight picture.
