I remember these guns being imported for a little while before all the unpleasantness in early 1990's in Yugoslavia/Serbia/Kosovo,ect. I heard they were decent, I think they came with factory niht sights, do the newer ones? I haven't looked in to them too much.

Stupidly I passed on an old one w/o a mag last year as I live in a 10rd mag state and I figured it would be impossible to find mags and I don't have one in my stash I don't think. It sold at around $137!

I think an Israeli compaby made these guns for a time too.

FWIW, Zastava makes some very very high quality firearms. Their AK's and SKSs are generally regarded as being top-notch. I own both a Yugo SKS and a M70 underfolder and the guns are fantastic, best fit and finish I've personally seen for the platforms in my limited experience.

Yugoslavia wasn't full-blown commie (weren't even part of the Cominterm), but were market-socialists with very happy workers. The area is also known for their dedication to producing high quality goods. This cultural trend seems to generally carry over into their firearms as well.

I should be ordering one this week in .40 (I'd prefer the .45, but there's no word on when they're being released). I'll let you guys know how it goes.
