EAA Witness = CZ97?

The Witness .45 is based off of clones of the CZ 75. The CZ 97 may share some similarities to the CZ 75 but it is its own design. The grip geometries are similar because this is one of the notable strengths of the CZ along with the slide rail arrangement.

The diff is ones a CZ ones not.....
The CZ 97 is an excellent example of great CZmanship.....yes, a real word in my vocabulary.
Its finish, fit, trigger and accuracy is beyond reproach.....
Im not saying the Witness line isnt....but quality, dependability and customer service isnt what you get with a CZ in general.
The 97 by ALL who have tested, reviewed, shot and played with is accepted as one of the best out of the box guns for just about any price....never heard that about the witness...
Shoot well.....

I know you really like CZs PCRCCW, but you have to admit the CZ97 is a pretty big honkin' gun. You can get the EAA in a standard full size (not over super full size) or compact.

Sidetracker, the CZ97 and the Witness share very little except original design idea. Go check them both out if possible. They are definately different guns. I think the CZ is a better finished product but the EAAs aren't exactly junk. Have a friend that has a Witness 45 Compact and he's very happy with it. Very pleasant to shoot as well.

On the other hand the Witness "wunderfinish" is supposed to be really nice stuff. Much like a tenifer finish. It is supposedly very resistant to corrosion, etc.

CZmanship? I have to agree. For pure craftsmanship and
target quality, accuracy, and soft shooting.. the 97B is tops.

For a trustworthy knockabout field and defensive gun..the
Wintess in Wonderfinish takes the cake.

The 97B costs alot more than the Witness. You get what you
pay for.

Stop in at a gun store, and compare them side by side.
If somebdy hadn't told you they were based from the same design, you prolly wouldn't even find any similarities.
The CZ97 is in another class. Fit, finish, execution, all better by an order of magnatude.
IMHO, the CZ97 is the best example of a CZ currently available, save possibly for a P01, which I haven't examined personally.

The reason I'm asking is I once owned a CZ97 but it was just to big for my hand and last night I got to handle a Witness and it seemed to fit my hand much better than the CZ. Does the Witness have a smaller(different) frame than the CZ97?

The witness grip and the CZ97 grip are different. I'm not sure if the witness is smaller, but the geometry is proportioned better for some people. Looks like you might be one of them.

I bought a Witness .45 in WonderFinish a few months ago. I checked out the CZ-97 and was willing to spend the extra money. However, the Witness has a more narrow grip and felt "right"; only double stack .45 that fits me.

Mine cost $337.00, new. Fit/finish is very good; possibly better than most other Witness pistols.......maybe I got lucky.

I have almost 1000 rounds thru it with no malfunctions. The most accurate of my five handguns (excluding my 10" Ruger MKII).

I feel that the Witness is one of the best values on the market. My only complaint is that the front sight is not removable. YMMV

BamBam

Yes, the Witness frame is smaller than the CZ97. The Witness in 45ACP, 38 Super and 10mm are the same size if I'm not mistaken. And then the 9mm and 40S&W are the same size. They are all very similar but not interchangable. The larger pistols (45, 10 and 38 Sup) are interchangable with a slide, magazine and slide stop swap.
