So I am wanting a 10mm and I have heard a lot of good things about the EAA Witness, but especially the Match Elite. I have done some research and now have many questions that don't have very current answers (most relevant info I have found is like from 2008).
My first question is does anyone sell caliber conversion kits, besides the outrageously overpriced ones directly from EAA, for the Match pistols?
My second and more important question is can I put a standard upper on the match lower?
And my last question, for now, is the match really worth the extra money than the standard? If the trigger is the only difference, than would a trigger job on the standard suffice?
Thank you for your input,
David

P.S.
I thought of another question: I have read that you can put a .40 caliber barrel in the 10 millimeter upper; is this true for the match and if so how much are the barrels?

I can't offer much insight but I'm also terribly intrigued by 10mm, although I've been warned off EAA. I'm interested to see where this thread leads.

Is EAA really as bad as their reputation leads one to believe? Do these still crack or is the relief cut doing the trick? I don't want a glock 10mm but it's practically the only other option from EAA.

Q1) Not that I am aware of.
Q2) Long frame to long frame yes, but it was a tight fight.
Q3) You are buying the trigger and the fitting in the match. Can you duplicate it aftermarket with a smith? Sure, just time, money and luck of the draw fitting the parts. As a multiple match and match elite owner along with witnesses, I would say get the match or match elite. It is just a nicer fitted gun all around. Why try to fix it after the fact if you can get it fixed up front. Do a search on my name, I posted a bunch on my 10mm witness, 10mm in general and the match elites and matches I own. Good guns.

If you just want to play with 10mm you should try picking up a Glock 29 or 20. It will never have as good of a trigger than a 10mm 1911 could have but you will be able to scratch your itch.

Caliber conversions are a simple barrel swap.

One thing I like about Glocks is their ease of resale. So if you don't like it you can dump it quickly and move on to the next itch that needs scratching.

Glock!
Trigger isn't for everyone but these guns are durable to take that pounding.
I have a G29 and for the round,it's not that bad.

G40 should be a beast w/ Underwood ammo.

My sister has a Match 10mm, I have a Limited 10mm. Some significant differences between the Match and Limited, but both fantastic pistols, capable of excellent accuracy.

Tanfoglio makes fine guns, they're popular all over the world. Our problem here is the importer (EAA), which isn't always pleasant to deal with. I've had good luck ordering parts and accessories, but I've heard plenty of horror stories.

I have read that you can put a .40 caliber barrel in the 10 millimeter upper; is this true for the match and if so how much are the barrels?

Of the standard witness, yes. For the match or other elite models, there is hand fitting. The match, AFAIK, still uses a more standard type barrel than the tapered cone of the Limited and Gold Team, but I don't believe it's gonna be a drop-in proposition.

I there are some threads on highroad that discuss this. REgardless, I have the EAA elite match 10mm, and it is by far, my favorite pistol and is sometimes my edc.

It has extraordinary workmanship, and the tolerances between the slide and frame are so close it takes a bit separating the two. It is as accurate as anything I have shot, and after a 1000 or so rounds, no failures of any kind. well worth the money.

Hmmmm.....

CZ clone in 10 mm with caliber conversions and useless firingpin block safety....

a faux BREN-10? But with magazines?

My only 10m experience was with the Delta Elite early on and one of the few Springfield Omegas. Those were both 1911 systems. I do however really like the CZ75.

I once swapped parts between an early CZ75 and a Tanfaglio, they fit but I feared damaging what was then one of the few CZ75s in the country or its parts so I did not try it.

Wouldn't you know it my slide stop on the CZ broke about a month later and I was forever getting a replacement. Thanks to Gulf War I a friend got me a replacement from Frankonia. Soon afterward the CZ 75Bs started rolling in.....

Some of us actually like unobtrusive, passive safety mechanisms.

While I've never dropped any of my living, breathing children, I can't make that claim of my firearms.
