I'm one of those people who doesn't like engraving on any shotty except a double. Some day soon I will buy a Remington 11-87 and the early ones were made with a plain receiver. Since there have been some improvements over the years, are there any reasons I should avoid the plain-side 11-87, or things to look out for? Thanks.

It is my opinion that the early ones were the better of the breed.

Don't limit yourself. I think the Beretta 390/391 and the Winchester SuperX2 are far better guns for the same money basically. I've owned all the shotguns mentioned.

The berretta is a dream to shoot. Although I even have and old Reming 10-48 that was my dad's The newer guns can offer substantial wieght reduction given brand and model
