Hi. Does anyone know if a Remington factory mag extender for an 870 will work on an 11-87? Some say yes, some no. Also, what would be a good aftermarket extender that has a sling swivel attachment on the support bracket? I need a 3 round extender for a 11-87, older model. Thanks.

Not sure but my 1100 Tactical has a 4 shot extension with a sling swivel. It came that way from the factory and is a solid arangement. I would look and see what comes on the current 11-87 tactical and just buy that, it probably works well.

Thanks for the replies. I ordered one online. I will post pictures of results when I get it mounted.

It took a little doing, but I got it installed. Had to file down the internal nipples in the feed tube. Fore end was a little loose, so I made up a hard rubber spacer about 3/32" thick and that ensured a nice snug fit. Functions flawlessly and looks good too. Here in NYS we are limited to 7 rounds in the magazine of a semi-auto shotgun and that's what I have. Be safe out there! P1010967.JPG P1010968.JPG

If it is a factory extension the proper method to install it is to unscrew the nut from the tube completely, screw the bare nut on the mag tube, then screw the extension tube in to the nut. Try it that way and see if it does away with the need for the spacer.

The tube and nut appear to be one piece, but next time I have it apart, I will try and separate them and assemble per as you described, thanks.

The other problem that can be caused by having the nut on the extension tube when it is screwed on is a gap between the extension and the main tubes can be left which can catch on the rim of the shell causing loading or feeding problems.

I'm debating putting an extension on my 870P. Not sure if the extra weight would be worth it, handles wonderfully with the 4 shot tube. It also opens more light mount options.
