I thought I'd post these pics of the finish on my 59' Python that I took last night. They just don't blue guns like this anymore. This one has the nicest finish of any gun I own and that includes pre war S&W revolvers.
The pics are nice but, I have seen this piece in person and it looks even better than the pics! Randy, tell the members about the action on that puppy and how about those grips??? Enjoy it brother...
Nice blueing on that old Python. You're making me drool! (Ooops, that happens most of the time anyway! ) Wow, I didn't know that blueing could look that sweet. Shame on me to be a Smith fan. Incredible Colts.
I agree about the blueing Colt used to do. I know this is the "revolver" forum but since we are talking about Colts, and Bluing, thought I'd share this.
This is a 1952 Pre-Series 70 1911 in .38 super that I just sold. I've never seen one with a finish like this one. Several hard-core collectors said that same thing about it when they saw it. The guy at Colt who did the polish job on this must have been in a good mood that day. The finish was so reflective, it was difficult to take a good picture of it. Sort of like taking a picture of a mirror. All you see is the reflection.
Tim, my camera is better at closeups but here's a couple of full shots of my Python. I was lucky to find this one in its original numbered box.
The pictures at the top of this thread were taken after I applied a coat of Flitz gun wax. The stuff is amazing and really gives a nicely blued gun an amazing shine.
