If your kid lacks the brains and or dexterity to handle a 3 screw Ruger then they shouldn't be handling any freakin' gun AFAIC.

I started with 3 screws and prefer them.

Load one, skip one, load four more.

If they're klutzes or clueless.....................let them play soccer.

It took me several hundred rounds to develop some consistency but my stainless New Bearcat is a great shooter. Walnuts at 30yds are nary a problem.

cause 5 goes into 50 evenly

For range shooting that would be the only reason.

When the ammo is loaded at the shooting position it's not at all unsafe to load all six and carry on shooting. I do it all the time.

But I also get lots of practice loading 5 and lowering on an empty with my cowboy action shooting. This is the safe way since I'm loading and holstering away from the point where I'll be shooting.

Knowing the difference is a key point about handling this style of gun safely.

For young shooters just starting out like 455's young boy I'd suggest that a more key thing to focus on is the four basic rules of gun handling. I'd be having any boy I was teaching repeating that to me on the way to the range and ensuring that the rules are followed with a religious like fervor.

It's not the presence or lack of a transfer bar that makes any revolver safe. It's the following of those four rules by the person holding the tool.
