In my neck of the woods, summer is coming to a cool end. I'll soon be up in my tree stand harvesting springs dinner menu. Lately I've been putting away a lot of "finger foods" like ribs, wings, long necks, kabobs etc.....

How many changed their eating habits, say from eating with your pistol hand to eating with your non pistol hand, when you carry?

Baby backs and pistol grips don't mix well in my book! Hey buddy, lemme' lick this Q of my digits so I can grab muh' widow maker!

If I'm ever in a situation where I've been fired on while eating BBQ, I'll just wipe my hands on the backside of my pants. It will help hide the other stains that will probably occur.

I drill at the range; hold beer in left hand...draw & shoot with right.

Seriously, I don't plan my menu around my carry and I don't plan my carry around my menu.

Seems like we're way overthinking this whole thing. I go about my daily life like I always have. I just happen to do it with a handgun on my person somewhere.

I don't know about habits, but I'm dieting so I can carry in a more seemly manner. Down 10# at this point.

I have carried while eating ribs, but I figured that, if my life or my wife's life were threatened, I'd just clean the gun afterward.:)

That said, like BaltimoreBoy, I'm looking to lose a bit more weight to get in top shape, so I'm not "putting away" all those finger foods. Some people can eat that crap and still be 10% body fat with plenty of muscle on them. I'm not one.

Unless I want to disarm, my eating habits when carrying, shift almost exclusively to fast food.

Ohio bans carry in liquor serving establishments. That rules out Chipotle and most better restaurants. That leaves, McDonalds, etc.

If I really want to eat some place better, I carry my Smith 36 in a pocket holster and deposit the gun in the glove box before leaving so that nobody sees me leave an unattended gun at my destination.

You should practice at the range with your fingers covered in ketchup and french fry grease.

Don't over-think it :)

A couple of wet wipe packets in the spare mag pouch should do the trick for those quick cleanups before clearing leather.

Best answer so far, hands down.

I don't think I would worry about gettin sauce on my grips.

I am very confident that the damage from moms homemade BBQ sauce on my grips will be far less than the damage done to my gun when it spends months in an evidence locker before they realize that I was justified in shooting the idiot busting into my house.

I've been making an effort to use my left hand (I'm right handed) for as much as possible since well before I began carrying. Besides keeping my right hand open to use my weapon (or pocket knife before i had a CCW), i think it's a good idea to use the muscles in my left hand/arm whenever practical since I do favor the right and I'd like to be able to rely on my left hand/arm if the right ever falls off. :uhoh:

Sauce might be one of the nicer things my gun is exposed to while CC'ing.... sweat, lint, dirt, grime, and water would all be worse in my book... and it gets all of those things...

The only time my eating habits change is in conjunction with a new gun purchase.

A new gun purchase usual equals at least three weeks of eating Top Ramen for me. :barf:

Once heard of a guy who unintentionally starved himself to death.
They called him “Two guns Larue”....................

New CCW in restaurants law takes effect this week in AZ

Once the new AZ law comes into effect allowing CCW in restaurants that serve alcohol, I will only be eating in establishments that permit CCW. It seems likely that several national chains will now be off-limits and thus will no longer be receiving my families $$$ :( .
