Found this on ebay...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...3663549273&rd=1

Wonder where that rig sells for twice that price?...I actually found it cheaper at gunnersalley.com Nice quote, "Don Hume is the best there is...period!" Some here might disagree if they own an Alessi, Delfatti, Sparks et al....(by the way, this is not a bashing of Don Hume products which are very serviceable and modestly priced, just like truth in advertising)

I used to work for an Ebay power seller. We would always list the retail price at a rather high figure. Every once in a while there was a sucker that would read that and take the buy it now price just because it was so much lower then the retail price. Maybe by retail price they are talking about what Cabelas or other similar high markup retailer is selling that item for.

You know how often they say a sucker is born right??? :D

I have actually bought from that seller. Paid on Mon got my Don Hume holster on Wed. I was very happy.

e-bay = garage sale:rolleyes: friends don't let friends use e-bay, find a honest dealer @ his website and get new for the same price or cheaper

I don't see how someone listing too high on eBay is any different than people listing too high on their websites.

e-bay = garage sale

where you don't get to look at and handle what you're buying before hand.

The magic words are "Caveat Emptor". Deals can be had, but know what you're bidding on and what it goes for in the real world.

Me too and I had the same experience.

But I always do some checking around on prices befor a buy anything off ebay.

I'd admit that I think he is a little high at that price for that particular holster. At that price I would just give Highnoon a call.

eBay is just like anywhere else. If you do some research, check some prices, look at the seller, etc. you'll most likely get a good deal. If you don't watch out for yourself, you deserve what you get. Personally, I've never gotten a bad deal, and I've gotten some deals that you could never get otherwise.

in my case i liken it to a garage sale because i ended up with someone elses junk. i bought 2 holsters that were advertised as "like new" condition with a photo of a new one used as the holsters.when i recv'd my goods the retenion screws were stripped on one and the strap had been ground down on the other, not what anyone would consider like new. i'm sure there are many good vendors on e-bay but not in my case. you can do all the homework you want but if the seller is not honest you dont find out till you open your goods. this is just my experience as most of what i hear most people get treated fairly. good luck.:D

hindsight

i will keep your advice in mind techbrute if i ever go that route again.

All my `holsters come from Mitch Rosen so I'd not even be looking at them on ebay. Way too many bad (used carman type) sellers on there.

Some of you guys seem to be forgetting that ebay is not strictly a businessmans domain, I've gotten some very good deals from single individuals who bought a holster (or something else) didn't like it, and than tried to recover some of their original investment. I've bought some very nice leather for some of my more difficult to-find leather for guns. Because these oddball holsters don't command a whole lot of attention the prices are generally low. Bottom line is don't turn away from ebay without checking it out personally and often, you might just find what your looking for at a steal.

Ebay is great by the way....I buy lots of goods there.....most people are honest and helpful...just check their feedback....

This is why you should buy from sellers with a long-term positive reputation.

Unfortunetly that does not always work.

I bought something from someone who had been on ebay 5 years, 600+ sales , 99.3% postive ratings and I still got ripped off.
