I'm not a violent fellow, but sometimes it's a good thing the guy bidding against me isn't in the same room as me.:cuss:

Don't some of these guys bother to research value before they bid?I mean I was just out bid by a guy on a bayonet,he is at $176 and he can have it because if you research the sellers history 3 weeks ago they sold the same condition bayonet for $99.Then again I just researched his history and he just bought a dagger for $2500 so I guess he has money to burn.

Same thing about guitars, some moron out bid way above me at the last minute,by the time you figuire shipping you can go get the same one new at a store. But it really PO's me to loose a auction, but not to the point I'm going to be completely stupid with my money.:banghead:

I notice this too. People often buy things for more than they sell for at any online retailer. doesn't make sense to me

I watched a rusty remington shotgun barrel sell for $150 plus $25 shipping once when I was looking for a 20" rifle sighted barrel.

I bought a new one from Cabelas for $118 including shipping.

People dont know the value of what they are bidding on, or they get caught up in the action.

I have also gotten a good deal, $12 for a nice leather quiver that would cost me $200 new, and $65 for an anschutz rifle sight thats $350 new, but I watched other sights sell for the new price for 2 months before I got lucky.

Caveat emptor, know the value and limit your bid.

Right or wrong, it was worth more to them than you at this point in time. That's why it's called an auction, not a store with fixed prices. There are no rules that say an item must sell below retail just so YOU can get a deal. If you can buy the item cheaper elsewhere, do so! The price will come down if enough people do the same. If the margins are large enough, buy retail then resell on one of the auction sites (until the bidders get wise they can buy it cheaper somewhere else).

yeah I understand that 1911user,and I have to watch myself from getting caught up in the frenzy of last minute bidding, cause no one likes to loose. But to pay way over just to win isn't worth the feeling of beating the other guy.

The first thing sold on eBay was a broken laser pointer. Seriously.

Keep that in perspective when visiting auction sites.
