Yep, I listed an EOTech 512 on Ebay tonight and sure enough they canceled the auction. I got the standard e-mail that said it violates their firearms policy. I have read through the policy and can't seem to find any mention of holosights anywhere.

I have bought and sold an M1A bolt on fleabay as well as a complete .22LR upper for a Glock 17. No problem. I wonder why they pinched this auction?

I conger up an image in my mind of some guy reviewing auctions on the night shift at Ebay. He is in a bad mood because his new pair of sandals is causing a callous to form on the top of his left foot and he tore his tie dyed t-shirt getting off the bus out in front of the building. Once he entered his cubicle he realized that his half-calf soy frappuccino was at least ten degrees outside of his comfort zone and that he had forgotten his copy of "An Inconvenient Truth" that he was going to loan to Rauel in the IT department.

I was doomed from the get go.

Time to open a gunbroker account me thinks. :banghead:

E-Bay has some bogus stuff going on when it comes to firearm related items. I have seen perfectly allowable (by their rules) items get cancelled but have seen serialized receivers sell as gun parts. As we know ATF says thats a firearm. Wish they would get their act together!!!!:cuss:

Dear ec-10,

Thank you for writing eBay in regard to the removal of your auction
listing.

I've reviewed your listing and can confirm that it was removed
correctly. Please understand that the sale of any assault weapon-related
parts or accessories as defined by federal or California law is not
permitted on eBay, because selling these items is highly regulated by
the government or may be illegal in some areas.

Your listing was removed because it indicated that the item is
compatible with an assault weapon. This type of item is considered an
assault weapon accessory. However, if your item also has a legitimate
use with firearms other than assault weapons, you may relist it. Please
make sure that you don't mention names of assault weapons in the listing
and that you don't offer to ship the item outside the United States.

For more information on the eBay Firearms, Weapons, and Knives policy,
please visit:

The text of my auction mentioned the term "AR-15" and specifically stated that I would NOT ship outside the USA. :scrutiny:

So there we have it; it is a matter of language.

So avoid using certain key words - which is probably how they troll their site for "bad" auctions - and substitute "nice" things like, "great for target and competition", etc.

the sad part is the ebay contrary to popular belief does not read every listing - the frequent pulling of auctions is usually due to ebay sellers turning coat and reporting "violations" of other sellers to ebay so that can get rid of a competitor or two.

by the way, you selling that eotech? I might buy.

The text of my auction mentioned the term "AR-15"
well there's your problem. You have to use the California definition of "assault weapon" if you what to use Evilbay, so AR15 would be verboten.

Nobody has asked what you want for the Eotech? I will, how much you wanna get out of the Eotech, and what shape is it in? I need another BRIGHT reddot for my M4 flattop....

of course every granola late' San Fran ebay type is much smarter than the average bear and knows that a Bushmaster is the name of the popular weed whacking thingy jig they sell at Sears. After all they see their illigal allien lawn and garden serfs using them all the time, so they know this very well.

To everybody who inquired about buying my Eotech or who suggested I list it for sale here I must apologize. I was under the impression that to list things for sale here a person needed to have a minimum post count (like some other boards require). I re-read the rules and know that is not the case now.

Anyway, I re-listed the Eotech on Ebay and left out any mention of the evil black rifle. :barf: They left me alone this time. I did not bother with gunbroker because there are several Eotech sights listed for sale there but nobody seems to be bidding on them. That scenario seems all to common on gunbroker.
