I got my Springfield 1911-A1 Loaded for $450 out the door like new! :D

The WWII Mil-Spec has been getting lots of recomendations. For a bit more $60-70, the "normal" SA Mil-Spec has better, higher visibility sights and a lowered and flared ejection port.

You could also go really budget with a new Rock River Arms model. They generally have good things to say at the 1911 forum.

I think you mean Rock Island Armory...Rock River's 1911's are in the 4 figure range...

Well, I already posted about 100 times about the new SA WW2 Mil-Spec I just bought. So here's post #101. Run out and get one. Right now.

Even better deal would be the Colt NRM Governments @ $100 more. Two Thumbs up!

Definitely check out the Rock Island Armory milspec .45: Good fit, finish & trigger right out of the box, accurate & reliable (mine's over 500rds and 100%), hard chromed bbl, no plastic/MIM parts or 2-piece bbls, what's not to like for $300?

Without a doubt, the Springfield Mil-Spec is the way to go. I have two of them. At $400.00 you can't go wrong. I've been told they're becomming a bit harder to get because of the high demand.
Good Luck and Be Safe

SA Milspec. If you don't plan on modifying the gun the regular Milspec is a better choice than the "GI" milspec since it comes with better sights and a lowered and flared ejection port.

I have a full size Charles Daly that really surpassed my expectations considering I only paid $380 OTD. I sold my kimber and used the extra $$ to buy lots of bullets for reloading. :) I now have close to 9k rounds through it (mostly SWC and RN reloads) w/o problems. It did choke on HP's though, but so does the Kimber.

Huh.

I had completely forgotten that Tanfoglio built a 1911 clone.

Of course, within the next few months the only companies left not building 1911 clones will be Glock, Kel-Tec, and Beretta. Or does Beretta own Tanfoglio now, too? :uhoh:

Sistema 1911

How about the Sistema (Argentine "Colt). A considerable number of these were built under a 1927 license from Colt, on Colt machinery, under Colt supervision in Argentina. I got mine for under $275 in good shape except for some minor barrel pitting. Since then I have added higher fixed sights, a slotted hammer, short trigger, and trigger job. It shoots very well, feeds nearly everything, and is still a $350 pistol! :p
