Ejectile dysfunction with my SKS

Using Wolf Military Classic FMJ the rifle will, at times, eject so forcefully that folks 10 feet away are getting hit by empties but at other times the case will just barely clear the action and at other times a case will stovepipe.

This will happen in the space of one stripper full of ammo.

I may go 4 or 5 clips before it happens or just one round.

I'm confused.

Is it the gas system? The ammo? Something else?

if so, clean the valve
