Ever since I changed over my full size 1911 to a 4" slide and barrel I've been bombarded with feeding and ejecting issues. I seem to have the feeding issues corrected after I had the feed ramp polished, but the ejection is still a problem.

I've tried numerous different magazines both 7 and 8 round versions and with all of them it seems as the first round from the mag is the most common to stovepipe. Usually with the empty case being turned 180* and being stuck in the chamber horizontally. It becomes much more reliable if I load the mags with one less than max capacity but it still has stovepiping issues from time to time. Also to add insult to injury when it DOES eject it often throws the brass right into my face! :banghead:

I was thinking an extended ejector would solve the problem, but then I also heard that to use extended ejectors you also need a wide ejection port. Anybody have any advice on this one? Thanks guys!

Oh and yeah it worked flawlessly with the 5" slide and barrel for years but unfortunately both the slide and barrel were lost in the mail thanks to the wonderful military mail system and my father's cheapness at not putting tracking or insurance on packages. :cuss:

You don't need a modified ejection port.
Those are done mostly to stop dented brass for reloading.

In all probabality, an extended ejector will fix your problem.

Your shorty slide is not coming back far enough to hit a standard ejector.

That was my interpretation of the problem as well. Thanks for the opinion rcmodel.
