I'm staring at this extended ejector that I purchased in an effort to correct a "brass in the face" problem with a commander-length Kimber in .45 ACP. The "stock" ejector measured .78 in length. The extended ejector that I'm looking at is 1.298 in length. I'm thinking that's a bit too long to install as is. I looked in Kuhnhausen's books and his thinking is that 1.00 to 1.08 is a "long" ejector and 1.10+ qualifies as an "extra long" ejector. This may only be true of standard size 1911s though. So, my question:

What is a good starting length for an extended ejector, given that this will be installed in a commander-sized 1911? Not afraid to reduce as necessary, just don't know a good starting point. Any help is, as always, greatly appreciated.
