I emailed him urging opposition to AB 352, the microstamping bill. This is his reply.

Dear Friend:

Thank you for your letter regarding AB 352, the Firearms Microstamping bill.

As an elected official, my first priority has always been to accurately represent the views of my constituents. Over the past few months, I have heard from many of you expressing grave concerns as well as support in regards to this legislation. I apologize for the delay in responding to you.

Ultimately, I believe this bill will help prevent crime and murder. Microstamping will help law enforcement in their investigations bringing them one step closer to arresting the responsible individual/s.

AB 352 has passed through the Assembly and is currently in the Senate. Thank you again for your time and consideration. Please feel free to contact me if you have any further questions on this or another issue.

Sincerely,
Jerome E. Horton

I got it, too.

It's pretty much a done deal that AB352 and SB357 will get to the Governor's desk. What he does with them will determine how much longer I stay in this state.

We need redistricting... badly.

Did you tell him that this proposal is economically impossible and will simply drive makers out of the CA market?

On second thought, he probably knows that.

I sent the Governator an e-mail saying AB352 and SB357 are bad business. I got a reply saying neither bill has reached his desk therefore he has not red them, that he cannot take a position for or against the bills until he reads them.

They probably care little to nothing what kind of problems these bills will create for firearms commerce as long as it doesn't impede their ability to arm the government.

Anybody know the breakdown on the commerical value of California's public and private firearms goods and services industry?

Anybody happen to know what if any impact these bills will have on the Cal gov's (State and Local) cost of arming itself if they become law?

I don't like how every time someone gets a letter from a representative that differs from their view, they act like that person doesn't care about them.

A couple of months ago, I wrote all of mine here in Maryland giving my support for this year's (totally hopeless) CCW bill. I got back varied responses, but the one I respected the most disagreed with me. The rep said he appreciated my writing and being involved and that this was an issue he took very seriously. He said he understood my points but that he felt the right thing to do was to support the other side.

I don't agree with him, but having more than one party is supposed to be about having push and pull, not just having one side dominate everything. I was pleased not to get an ass-kissy letter with a bunch of political double-talk.

Anyway, my impression wasn't that my guy didn't care about me. It was that he cared enough about what he believed to stick up for it and not be afraid to disagree with me.

I know that it may end up costing some innocent lives, but

I sincerely hope that ALL AMMUNITION MAKERS BEGIN REFUSING TO SELL TO ANY AND ALL CALIFORNIA LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES. I hope that all police, government and military agencies end up utterly unable to get ammunition in California as a result of this.

Maybe then they will see the folly of trying to do away with gun rights via impossible ammunition requirements.

It would be interesting to see if any issues arise from the transportation of non-stamped military ammunition through the state of California by the federal government. I guess they would just look the other way so it wouldn't be an issue though.

jnojr and other PRCA prisoners

Perhaps it might be better to concentrate you efforts on the Gov.? After if he gets mail by the bag full against it he might think twice.

From what I've heard about the PRCA the lawmakers haven't met: a regulation, a tax, a law, a way to control people, they don't like.

Sadly, this is almost a forgone conclusion. considering that Arnold signed the 50 cal ban, these two are almost shoe ins, no matter how stupid they are.

And to my fellow Californians who voted for Arnold instead of McClintock :cuss: to you. ;)

I admit, I voted for the Governator. But that was before I was so deeply passionate about politics and the future of our country. It won't happen again.

Don't forget that along with the .50 ban last year, the GA in California also passed some ridiculous bill that would have required leaving fingerprints and registering your name every time you bought ammunition. Schwarzenegger did veto that one, at least, so I don't think it's inconceivable he'll kill the serial number program either.
