I got my start with muzzle loading hunting because I deemed it unsafe to go afield during regular shotgun season. Too many slugs flying around to suit me.
I was standing within arms length a fellow hunter and friend of mine when he shouldered his shotgun and pump three rounds out as fast as he could (boomboomboom) at "a deer" that I couldn't/didn't see. That ended regular gun season for me.
With the ML I have but one shot and I take aim carefully and concentrate on a good solid hit and I assume others hunting with a ML are doing the same thing.
In resent years I have returned to shotgun hunting as I have diffficulty loading a muzzle loader do to Parkingsons and I am fortunate to have access to a deer stand on prive property.
By the way the Knight in line that I have is very very accurate with sabot slugs, but 200 yards is more than I would attempt. I just don't believe in chasing wounded game all over the timber if I can avoid it.
No way would I do away with Muzzle loading seasons, especially with the size of our current deer herd.
