End muzzleloading seasons?

I got my start with muzzle loading hunting because I deemed it unsafe to go afield during regular shotgun season. Too many slugs flying around to suit me.
I was standing within arms length a fellow hunter and friend of mine when he shouldered his shotgun and pump three rounds out as fast as he could (boomboomboom) at "a deer" that I couldn't/didn't see. That ended regular gun season for me.

With the ML I have but one shot and I take aim carefully and concentrate on a good solid hit and I assume others hunting with a ML are doing the same thing.

In resent years I have returned to shotgun hunting as I have diffficulty loading a muzzle loader do to Parkingsons and I am fortunate to have access to a deer stand on prive property.
By the way the Knight in line that I have is very very accurate with sabot slugs, but 200 yards is more than I would attempt. I just don't believe in chasing wounded game all over the timber if I can avoid it.

No way would I do away with Muzzle loading seasons, especially with the size of our current deer herd.

Ok, I'll bite. I'll admit that a T/C Omega with a scope is no longer "in the spirit of the hunt" of muzzleloading, but k.o.ing the season altogether is a bit much. I hunt muzzleloader with a CVA sidelock and love it. I have no intentions of going to an inline and here's some of the reasons why:

I bowhunt for the challenge. Tanked shots because I jerked or something; misses because of a branch I didn't see; having to work to bring them in close enough for a sporting shot.

I muzzleload for similar reasons: Misfires due to weather (wet primers, wet powder, etc...); Having to bring them in to a sporting range; Sometimes not having a chance to reload or having to scramble for the reload.

I earned that dinner. With some of the pellet setups, you might as well be out with a single shot shotgun. Sealed breeches, quickloading sabot rigs that hold the pellets. Where's the challenge? Where's the fun?

I'm not saying that in-lines don't have their place, I just wouldn't use them due to personal preference. So, in-line users: Don't get yer panties in a bunch, I'm not condemning you for your choice. I just prefer my sidelock for my personal sense of satisfaction. Not because I feel an in-line is cheating.

...is just not sporting!

Berek,

I can't believe your out there with on of those new fangalled side locke flint guns. Why I bet you don't even make your own powder and that you got some of that there fancy rifling in that factory made barrel. Why any thing newer then a 22lb, hand forged, smooth bore, match locke "Blunder Bust" is just not sporting!:)

Respectfully,
