I am currently rehabbing a beater #5 Enfield found on the 'as is/u fixem' rack at the local gunny. I have ordered it's missing front sight/flash hider from Numrich. How is this unit mounted, pins, screws, magic???? I see no indication on the barrel where it should go or how it should go on. Thanks in advance.

Is it marked No. 5? Isn't that the "Jungle Carbine"? There are those who cut will down the No. 4 and maybe yours wasn't finished, in that the barrel didn't get a sight. The J Carbine has a rubber pad in place of the brass butt plate so I guess you can tell even without decoding the markings. Hope you get a nice shooter out of it.

Improvisation is a core military skill. Waiting for all the ducks to line up is not part of a soldier's job. The ducks aren't ever going to line up. The ducks are trying to kill you. - John Derbyshire

The original #5 Lee Enfield front sight/flash hider unit is press-fit and pinned with two pins.
If you have an original rifle, there should be two cuts in the barrel for the pins.

If they're not there, somethin' ain't kosher.
