Just recently got an Ishy 2A from AIM Surplus - paid $199.00 for the "Special Condtion" stock with little to no repairs.
Rifle had repairs all over, with a large crack in the forend and when
I removed it, a large chunk of stock fell away.
The wood in the recoil area was completely gone.
AIM sent a new, un-issued walnut stock set (minus the rear handguard).
Any tips on fitting up the new stock set?
Are they "drop-ins" or is hand fitting required?
I have read alot about the recoil damaging the forend at the rear of Enfield stocks.
I read somewhere that a remedy or to slow down the damage, the Brits installed re-coil plates on their No1. MK III's.
I have several Ishopore Enfields and none have the plates.
The thought of having to replace the stock after a few hundred
rounds in not very appealing since stock parts are getting hard
to find.
