hello,

This is a 30 years old Euroarms, still available today. Chambers are chamfered (as often with Euroarms) ; the gun is smaller and lighter than current production ; ivory-like gungrip have been adapted and slightly colored.

The point was whether this slow twist barrel would be accurate with 45Colt bullets and low charge :
20gr BP, 10gr cornmeal and 255gr Lee cast bullet and crisco

Duelist 25 meters :

The point of aim is 50cm lower with bullet compared to ball and recoil is reasonable...........

That's a heckuva nice lookin' gun there!

I recently Obtained a Euroarms 1858 Remmie. Just regular blued not fancy and engraved like yours. They're nice guns.
I wonder if they are supposed to be repros of the Beals version. The frame around the front of the cylinder, around the barrel ... is not "scalloped" to show nearly as much of the barrel threads as you see on Uberti or Pietta guns.

Hi flibuste,

Lovely Revolver...

Nice Target also..!

It seems the Remington does well with those Bullets at that Charge.

Do you have to Load the Cylinder out of the Frame with those 255 Grn Bullets? Or can you coax them in with the Cylinder in place?

Are the current Euroarms guns of a larger frame? I'm under the impression that all their Remmies are lighter in weight and have smaller grips than the other makes. The 7 Euroarms Remingtons I have all have the same dimensions. None are new guns however but one is pretty new.

This pistol is still available today :

Indeed, Euroarms seems not to have modified the size of their 1858 over the years and their 1858 is much smaller than current Pietta or Uberti production ;

FYI, thirty years ago, 1858 Pietta and Uberti were smaller than today and similar in size to Euroarms, but over the years Pietta and Uberti have boosted the size of their 1858 with some consequences : grips are larger, frame is more robust (to be considered when heavy loads or 45Colt conversion are used).

The chambers have been reamed to 0.452 and so I can easily ram 0.451 bullets by hand and finish with reasonable pressure with lever (I always load out of frame).

Barrel twist is 1:26, compared to Pietta 1:32

Regards
