In my never ending quest to obtain a carbine FAL at a budget price I stumbled upon this company. I know DSA is the bee's knees for FALs, and I've been eyeballing their SA58c16 16" carbine, but the price is up there ($1600+).

I found the Entreprise (not ent ER prise) while using the SEARCH function on this website. They have an 18" carbine FAL for $970ish.

Ive never heard of the company before and was curious about their firearms. Anyone have any experience?

Or, if you know where else to find a decent FAL carbine,18" or 16" please inform me.

Thanks for the link. I thought about doing just that. Im waiting to see if AIM will ever get any with bipods and carry handles.

Entreprise Arms L1A1 factory rifle (with bayo), the other is my homebuilt Aussie L1A1 on an Entreprise reciever.

The top rifle is from the early 90's (pre-Ban) amd the bottom was built after the slime bill went into effect (sometimes there is justice!). Both are flawless in function, but my kit build's reciever was described in the era it was built as a "file to fit" reciever. I had to do a LOT of hand fitting to make her run. It was my first build (built her sister with a friend at the same time), and it runs well. I don't know about the new rifles though, and the reference to the Fal Files will help you there.

Good luck!

DSA used to make an STG-58. I think it is still in production and I know it's listed on their site. It's built from Austrian parts, US barrel, and priced around $1100. If you must have the carry handle and bipod you can get them on it.
But the Imbels use carry handle cut recievers so you should be able to add one, and the bipod on a FAL isn't that great. They add weight and shift the point of impact when you use them.

Agreed...skip the bipod. All it adds is a bit of "coolness" but not that practical, IMO.

OK, enough owners say skip the bipod, im suit to follow. Probably just going to get the DSA and have the gunsmith cut it 16 and thread it for me, still cheaper than a DSA 58c16 by about $300.

My personal preference, and I own one, is the DSA STG-58 18" carbine, if you can find one. They are either out of production or in very limited production. Essentially all STG-58 parts have been used up in producing US-market rifles in the last 15-20 years!

Getting the DSA IMBEL and cutting down the barrel would be a reasonable option. Just make sure the smith can rethread it to the unusual threading used by FALs, if you want to still have a muzzle device.

I've played around a fair bit with a 2008 or so production Entreprise FAL (21") and it seemed just fine. The DSA is nicer but I wouldn't hesitate to get the Entreprise if you can get it for significantly less money or in the exact configuration you want.

DSA is a good call. You might also check the FAL files Marketplace and see what you can turn up used over there.
FWIW, I've owned three FAL's and the DSA was by far the best. The Enterprise had some little irritating issues I had to fix and I wound up selling it at a loss.

Standard threading on a metric FAL is 9/16x24 LH. On an "inch" FAL (L1A1 pattern) it is 9/16x24 RH. I'm not aware of any rifles other than FALs that use these threads.

Going to 5/8x24 would be a great idea if the barrel diameter is large enough to allow for it. I don't know offhand if it is - the standard profile is very skinny for a .308.

Yea, barrel O.D. is a concern. I may have to get it threaded to a 9/16th RH thread and have my gunsmith solder a 5/8x24 adapter.....no biggie.

BUT...the good news is I finally just bit the bullet and bought a dern DSA SA58C18. So not looking at the Entreprise anymore.

Thanks guys for all your help.

Heres the new DSA. DSA full interface rail, dsa picatinney top cover, ghetto grip (I'll be removing it) and all original parts included for $1150

I just wish it had a carry handle. I know, its not a purse, but I just like 'em.

See my thread on threading a FAL barrel in the Gunsmithing Forum. 9/16 x 24 LH is correct for most FALs and you should not have to turn down the barrel.

Did you buy it used?
Seems like a good price for such an accessorized DSA if you got it new.

Yes it was used. The guy "says" he fired only maybe 200 rounds through it. Says it has never given a single problem.

I did think it was a good deal. The carbine rifle from DSA lists for $1700. The DSA rail and top cover are close to $350.....got it all for 1150....im happy about it.
