I just bought an Entreprise IMBEL CAL-FAL.
It was 700 for the Entreprise Type 1 Receiver and IMBEL build, +100 for CA conversion and 922R parts. Tax was $65, DROS fees 30.
Total was about $900
I've heard people say that Entreprise receivers are not as good as DSA. I don't know - I have met the Entreprise crew including their gunsmith and owner and all seem to be pretty straightforward people. The guns themselves seem good; I know that they are not DSA quality, but they are at less than half of DSA's asking price of $1645.
I have spoken to four smiths, all well respected. All of them either refuse to work with or charge an extra $200 for builds using Century or Hesse receivers. All are willing to work at normal rates using Entreprise or DSA receivers. However, they all do universally acknowledge that DSA receivers are superior.
I chose to buy from Entreprise because a) $800 vs $1645 and b) I want to support a firearm manufacturing company that is based in California and is willing to provide CA-legal weapons without charging exhorbitant fees (it would cost me about $35 to do the magazine conversion myself).
Besides, the dog they have there is really cute.
I will pick it up in about ten days, and tell you all how it goes.
For now, I'm planning on getting a stripper clip cover and a trigger job.
