I am branching off another thread rather than hijack it with a question. I mentioned my powder measure is down because of a broken small part.

I am looking to order a replacement and looking at the parts list I started noticing all the small replacement parts the vendor sells for it. I already keep a lot of small/spare parts for the guns like extractors, ejectors, springs, screws, pins, etc. and don't really want to inventory more parts. However, I'm back to hand dippers with my powder drop out of order.

Do you order small parts only when needed or do you keep a supply of spares for your favorite presses and equipment?

The only spare parts that I have on hand for reloading stuff are decapping pins. I think what you have spare on hand depends a lot on your process. I load only single stage but if I owned a progressive press I would find out what the common failure parts are and have those on hand.

Not sure if it is possible, but it would be nice if they listed what the most purchased parts are, then we could have spare parts for the most likely to go.

I try to have a complete spare powder measure on hand as well as spare die sets I have purchased used. That along with a good used press and there are no work stoppages due to equipment. It might take a while to gather up all that stuff but I find the hunt is an adventure in and of itself.

I tend to store my replacement parts as complete assembled hot-swappable spares. It makes them easier to find.

I have various replacement parts I bought for my Dillon 550b. They all came together in a ziplock baggie and I've found the pack to come in handy on several occasions. Nice to have the parts on hand.
