In another post I questioned about buying either a 260 or 6.5x55. I had decicded on a 260. Now I may be able to have both. I found a 96 mauser barreled action I though I had gotten rid of. Seems er shaw will rebarrel
add a trigger and with various options get me out the door for about $500.00
Are there services worth the price? I am aware there are better options. I know the hart barrels are great. Just they cost a whole lot more. Anyway has anyone used shaw?

I have one of their barrels on a Mauser action. It's not my best barrel but it's not a bad one either. I don't remember ever hearing anything bad about their services and they were very pleasing to deal with when I ordered my barrel from them a long time ago. The do fairly quality work for a very reasonable price.

You are correct, they aren't a Hart barrel but few are. 98% of my custom barrels are Hart. The others are 1-Shaw 3- Krieger .

I think you will be pleased with them. $500 for a rebarrel and trigger job is a VERY good price.

time

Double check their promised lead time and make sure you can live with it... that's the only "bad" thing I've heard about them.

I bought one, long lead time and vertical stringing when the barrel heats up (its a 26 Inch bull barrel). I wanted it for Fclass but wouldnt cut it and they want money to turn down a barrel that wont shoot at that level. Would make a great one shot hunting barrel if it didnt weight 9 lbs.

Id aim for a higher quality brand name barrel.

I had my .223 rebarreled to 6x47 a year or two back. They trued up the action, and lapped the lugs. I didnt have trigger work done, as i had purchased an xmark that installed after the rifle came home. took about 6 months from the time i shipped it to the time i got it back.
