I'm switching to ESR this year in IDPA and looking for a good lead bullet load. Anybody got a good suggestion. Have been loading with 231, Titegroup, and Clays, but I'm open to getting a new powder if I need to. Thanks.
The best ESR load I came up with uses 45 GAP brass 3.8g of VVN310 with a 230g precision (the same load with cast should work too) OAL of 1.125" and a federal SPP. The SPP allows you the minimum trigger pull with 100% reliability. The GAP brass also moons/demoons without tools. Keep your eye out in the reloading section below and you can find some pretty cheap.
FWIW I tried clays, titegroup, hs-6 and a few others the 310 was the best.
