Evaluating a Sig p229

I'm feeling less satisfied with the trade.
I'm not sure why. I'd much rather have what you ended up with than a M-60...and I'm not really a 229 fan

Your gun doesn't look abused...believe me I've seen a lot of abused 228/229...pretty normal wear.

I enjoy trading, but I also have a bad habit of traders remorse. Which supports the cycle, I guess.

I have a chance to trade my S&W model 60 for an apparently like new p229.

I'm inclined to do the trade, which seems in my favor. I'm mediocre with the mod 60 and I have other carry guns.

Is there anything I should look for on the sig other than atypical or uneven wear, barrel condition, etc? Anything particular to look for?

Two of my 229's are police trade-ins (.40 S&W) and they are absolutely great. Both refurbed by Sig.

You won't regret it, I have four (this is an m11A1 which is basically a military version):

I don't think most people equate the term carry size with the idea of pocket carry.

I've been carrying for 40 years and have utilized pocket carry exactly twice...and was disappointed both times

I understand, different strokes. I started pocket carrying while wearing business suits. Most of the time my suit jacket was off and a 340PD or Kahr PM9 fit in my right front pocket with zero printing and very easy access. In fact walking through a parking ramp or to dinner with my wife my hand was always in my pocket and on my firearm. Now retired and IWB works just fine but I do find my little LCPII in a Talon wallet holster much of the time while on my daily one hour walk in a park.
Today's world with it's oversize cellphones present a whole new set of problems.

P229, is in the HOF of compact handguns no matter what caliber you choose it in. The wear where the locking pin goes does seem a little odd/excessive, but p229’s are tough guns so I’m sure it would function fine. I’d have to examine it myself in person before I could really give a solid “go ahead”, but I think the trade may still be in your favor. The p229 was at one time my favorite handgun, but the Cz p01 has since won me over in the compact handgun department. Whether one hangs on to bore axis beliefs or not, no one can say the p229 is not a fantastic gun.
