Rupert Murdock. the Aussie who owns Fox, is a big fan of John Howard's confiscation of all registered semi-auto and pump-action long guns back in '96.
Fox was just as guilty of running video of blazing machineguns while discussing banning semi-autos as the rest of them.
And in discussing gun laws Bill O'Reilly always starts talking about "machineguns and bazookas".
I am surprised, quite frankly, when accurate gun reporting gets through Fox, like Maxim Lott's analysis of the fallacy of the "90% of mexican crime guns come from usa" stat.
ADDED:
Bruce N. Canfield, "Collectors Guide to United States Combat Shotguns", Mowbray 1992, page 64, shows a New York National Guardsman on maneuvers armed with a single barrel breakdown shotgun issued through Blanket Procurement for pre-WWII training. Yeah, those were the days of training with broomsticks and trucks with "TANK" signs on the sides.
Also MASH units used .22/410 survival guns taken from deactivated bombers to control rats vermin around garbage dumps. Some were M6 aircrew survival guns, but they also issued Savage Model 24 combos for survival use in WWII.

Only the breakdown single shot has no military history.
