Nov 4, 1980. Two guys come into my store....dick around for a minute and the Gun comes out. Give me your money. The guy takes my wallet....tells me not to call the Police ...I know where you live ...etc...Threatens my life.
Anyway they get caught...arrested....court...1 gets 10years probation....the other lucks out gets a Not Guilty. The probation guy Plea's....the Not Guilty guy takes his chances...had a real good Public Defender.
That was my introduction to guns. I upgraded my life insurance to a Smith/Wesson #37 policy with a 38special deductible. I joined the local indoor pistol range to learn safe handling.
Strange thing from this occurrence....the people I met and the friends I made through Shooting clubs changed my life for the better. Business and socially. We are still friends today

Sorry if I'm repeating any started threads like this.

Yep, in 2003 three young men with a gun decided they were in greater need of my possessions than I was.

Unlike MaterDei I found my experience a combination of irritation (during the event) and hilarity (once they ran off). It never really crossed my mind that I could be hurt, I was more irritated that they were throwing their life away and that I would have to get a new drivers license.

The three lads made a critical mistake that ultimately cost them their freedom (aside from the mistake of committing the crime to begin with). I was a missionary for my Church at the time, and they chose to rob us in their own neighborhood, in front of a house who's occupants were not only outside, but people we were meeting with. Consequently the Police got the full names and addresses of everyone involved within minutes of arriving.

got had by 2 kids once. 15-16 funny part is i lived in bad parts of town most of my life. never robbed there. finally got out moved to md out mass ave in bethesda/sangamore area. got followed outa town when i rode my bike and got robbed by sibley hospital. never got robbed in anacostia i get robbed in palisades. kids that did it lasted less than 2 weeks. someone shot em and left under se/sw freeway. shamw was i identified car but one kids dad alibied his son. might been better to have a live kid in jail.

Had a couple of lowlifes mug me... Thing is, I was scared to death that I'd scare them, and that they'd shoot me because they were scared...

Sad thing is, the guy with the gun approached, and he starts tugging it out of his pants when he's too close to run from, but too far to hit... And the dang thing got caught... If I'd been carrying, he'd have gone down...

02... I was working for a local school district...in the hallway at a hs, during school hours.

Ever Been Held Up

Twice. Once when walking down the street and two guys came running up. One had a knife. The other had a gun.

The second time was in Dallas. BG came into the apartment I was visiting and had a small caliber semiautomatic handgun.

Even if I had been armed, couldn't have done anything. When they've got the drop on you.............

never been robbed, but i worked as a food delivery guy for years, so ive had many co-workers that were robbed... i was on the wrong end of a shotgun blast once... was working security for a club and there was a shooting in the parking lot... the guy that got shot was no more than about 15 feet to my left... of course, i was hiding under a car about 2 seconds after the first boom, so i didnt see what else happened, but there were multiple shots fired

No, but this idiot and his four friends decided I owed them something. I persuaded them otherwise, without revealing the 13+1 rounds of .40 S&W that were waiting for them under my t-shirt. I will never lose my USP, that gun has been there for me.

Not held up per se. Assaulted and battered on september first 2004 though. A lowlife who decided that he would rather spend jailtime and pay 1000$ in damages to me than pay 85$ Taxi fare for the ride i provided.
As you cant arm yourself for selfdefense in sweden i nowadays carry a rather large Maglite between the seat and the door when working. To the cops it is a flashlight, to a badguy it is a club.

Home on leave from the military, visiting my sister in Dallas, TX. Sleeping in while she was at work (no cars in the driveway) 2 guys and a girl break in through the back of the house. I met them in about the middle of the house with my sister's Colt Mustang .380

Not thinking straight I let them leave; in hindsight I wish I had held them and let them get charged; might have prevented a future burglary on their part.

Yeah, 40 years ago. Since then I live by the Boy Scout motto: Be prepared.

That and I'm really good at acting like a "crazy *** with a gun."

Since then a few times people have acted like they want to rob me, but I get become very aggressive with them and they get intimidated.

In the hands of a criminal a gun is an instrument of intimidation. If you're not intimidated it doesn't work.

You just need to be able to figure out whether you're faced with a criminal or a nut job. I've been lucky. Only nut job. I just walked away and said "If you want to shoot someone in the back, go ahead."

I'm still here....

In 1982, 3 friends and myself were shot at with a 12ga shotgun and held at gun point until the guy emptied our wallets. I started carrying after that happened.

No

But, I feel as though I thwarted a robbery attempt from a panhandler,
while sitting at a drive-thru window at my local Church's Chicken. He
approached from behind both, the business and my vechile without
saying a word; and attempted to place his hand inside my vechile,
as I was retrieving my order only too be met by a Walther PPK .380
being shoved in his face~! :uhoh: Needless to say, he decided to
quickly retreat; and I have not seen him since. :D
