Everybody needs a day at the range, however flawed, to bring things into perspective!

I didn't even so much as touch an AR until I built my psa in early May. I have about 600 rounds down the tube so far and sometimes for faster just to improve target aqusition. I fired at two different steel plates at 100 meters switching between the two.

Firing faster does tend to open up the groups some. Hopefully practice will tighten the up.

With my bolt auctions I shoot slower making each shot count.

That's probably why I don't own an AR. I got my share of semi-auto centerfire shooting when my brother had an M1 Carbine and about 3,000 rounds of ammo when I was about 13. It was lots of fun shooting cans at around 100 yards in the gravel pits and I loved that rifle. I like accuracy these days, but have a Ruger 10-22 when I want to shoot small steel silhouettes offhand at 50 yards. That's cheap fun!

I've never had the desire to own/shoot an AR and never even tried one. Hefting a couple of them, they don't seem to feel good to me. To each his own.

My hunt club has a 100 yard range. I may spend 2 hours at sunrise tuning 2 rifles for hunting season firing a round every 5-8 minutes. I'll use a rest and couple of bags as part of my set up in an effort to consistently establish POA to POI and hopefully get sub MOA results.....usually I do. When I share the process with other members I may as well be talking to my dog. They all but cock their heads with blank stares.

Glad you made it out and had a good day. Ive been confined to indoor lanes for too long. The wife and I have planned a monday off to go and break clays together. We'll also bring .22s and pistols. It will be a good day no matter how the actual shooting goes ;)
Made it out yesterday (monday off of work). After a rather successful garage sale we headed out in the rain for some fun. We both did well(relative to ourselves and each other that is, lol) . A good day at the range with your best friend is one to be treasured indeed!

View attachment 858416 I had an epiphany yesterday and today confirmed it, I can no longer see well anymore. Last night driving I realized my night vision isn't that good anymore, today at the range, using 9 separate handguns, I couldn't see the front sight at all. What a wake up call. I have never shot this bad in the past.
Rented a G19 that had a spongy trigger and when I inserted the mag the slide catch released itself.
All my revolvers are fixed sights and couldn't even see the front site, that's all the misses.
My new S&W M&P Compact 22 lost the rear site spring and was shooting too low and the barrel thread protector kept unscrewing itself, also the slide release isn't, I'm very disappointed in this gun.
My 65, 640 and 340 would save me but it had better be point blank. The Vaqueros did much better (all the upper targets) but I couldn't see the notch or blade well enough to tell elevation though drift was also a challenge.
The Ruger Single Six Convertible did better even without being able to see the front blade.
The M9A3 did very well but that first DA shot is unwieldy, I also have to change the sites and drift the rear.
My J frames and K frame made all the pretty holes outside the target, I don't blame the guns, even using a support and slow fire I couldn't see where I was aiming.
All in all, my Glory Days are gone but on the bright side I learned this at the range and not in self defense.
Guess I'm going to have to rely on shotguns now.
But don't y'all worry 'bout me, poor eyesight is the second thing to go and no one escapes the ravages of time.
