Exotic shotshells for Home Defense-Your opinion.

Thanks for your reply. Home "offense" was a poor word choice and I realize the legal consequences. In my post I ordered standard home defense ammo and I hope I never have to use it for its intended purpose. On the exotic stuff I was just asking opinions of what you guys think of it. I knew I was going to get flamed and put down when I asked and now I am sorry I asked. I enjoy reading here about guns but I think maybe I should leave the keypad alone.

Lee Lapin, thank you for your slug recommendation. Out of 22 replys you were the only one to make the suggestion and probably read my entire post.

CWL, thanks for input on patterning. I did buy several types of standard HD ammo and do plan to pattern the shotgun. I will leave the exotic stuff for the movies.

You may survive the criminal court but I wouldn't want to try my luck with a civil suit brought by the survivors of the BG. RandKL may be right in that some states won't allow a civil suit based on a defensive shoot but would you really want to try it? Stick with 00 buck. It's a proven stopper, no Holly-weird special effects crap and is a lot more defensible in court.

I suggest you check to see if the rounds are legal in your state. Each 4th of July for several years I fired Flame Thrower Rounds but recently found out that they are outlawed. Many of the experts suggest that a person not use the wierd stuff because it could be hard to defend its use in court. I follow the experts advice and use standard, off the shelf, hunting type ammo. My HD shotgun is presently loaded with a BB load in the chamber followed by seven 00 buck. I would use #1 as the chamber load but can't find any. I believe the BG would not continue after being shot with any load at 10 to 12 feet.
