Along with, and incorportated into self defense shooting options, is instictive shooting. This is a practice, that only by practice, can be useful in situations that just don't allow you the time necessary to use your sights to their full potential. It is not, nor ever has been intended to be an only option, or a simplsitic one for that matter. Much like those who have an artistic ability, but even practice will not improve this method for those who lack that certain art of this shooting. But for those who care to take the time to develope this skill or determine if it exists within their abilities, it can save your life.
Self defense circunstances don't always allow for a carefully placed shot by use of the sights and this is when this ability is appreciated. If we can develope the relation between our brain and motor skills to a proficient level, it can become a very valuable skill to have available to us.
