What have been your experiences with 40 to 9 conversion barrels for Glock pistols? Any tips? Any limitations? Any particular brand of conversion barrel better quality or more problematic than others? (ie. Storm Lake, Lone Wolf, KKM Precision)

Any chance of damaging the Glock with the conversion barrel?

Any particular 9mm loads that work well or don't work well?

I have a new Glock 22 that I bought with the intention of using a conversion barrel.

I would appreciate your insights and advice. Thanks!

Storm Lake 9mm in a G23 here

I have about 8,000 rounds through a StormLake 9mm barrel in a G23.
Mostly MBC lead pushed through a Lee bullet sizing die.
I use the barrel as a gage when loading and have had no problems...yet.

Lone Wolf 40 to 9 in a Glock 27 here. Has eaten all commercially available 9 mm ammo I've fed it so far. Close to 1000 rounds on the barrel and working just fine. I don't think it's going to damage anything since the .40 it was built for would be more punishing.

Bold is one. Absolutely not. You can put 9mm cartridges through the .40 barrel because you forgot you switched the barrels back and it won't hurt the Glock, it'll just ruin your brass and won't run the gun unless there is some small miracle and the recoil assembly is long cooked.

I had two Lone Wolf 40-9 barrels, an extended 2-port for the 27 and a stock length for the 23. Never had any problems with them, when I got the first one it stuck just out of battery with Fiocchi 115 grain XTPs, I had to strike the rear of the slide with my palm and then fire to get them out, so I emailed Lone Wolf, they gave me a number to call, and I was talking to a guy named Dan (I think) who I later learned is the owner's right hand man, #2 guy there. He told me to mail in the barrel with a couple of the rounds that it was not working with, I mailed it from Maine to Missouri on Monday, and it was back at my house on Friday. And I got a call from him, he just let me know he took care of it, called the rounds mean little suckers, to which I agreed, and I never had a problem with it again.

Perfect CS, which is why I will buy or recommend Lone Wolf every time. Plus the barrels feel well made, they shot well, and they are about the least expensive of them all.

EFK, KKM, and Storm Lake definitely the better choices. I have an old Jarvis that's been great too. Clean as usual and it's fine.

LW barrel. I've never has a single jam with it. The brass tends to eject straight up, though.

I to have a g-27 and a LW 40/9mm conversion barrel and for range time it runs 100% with the 40s&w mags. I do have a new 26 mag and my wifes 17 mags to play with too. Bought my barrel from cheaper than dirt for 99 bucks.

After playing with a few conversions, I'd rather spend the cash for another complete Glock.

They seem to lack reliability, eject odd, etc. The only way I'd buy an aftermarket barrel now, is if I was suppressing a Glock and needed a threaded barrel.

After a few months of agonizing about it and worrying about how it'd work, I finally bit the bullet and bought a Lone Wolf conversion barrel for my G32 from glockstore.com and a couple cheap Korean mags from Centerfire Systems.
I figured I'd deal with any extractor issues when and if they happened.
It worked great.
It's reliable, accurate, ejects perfect, and I can't complain at all.
Even the cheap Korean mags are working great, in fact, I bought 2 more when they had them for $6 and they have been flawless.
I would have liked to go out and buy a G19, but for a fraction of the cost I have virtually the same thing, and I can switch back in 10 seconds.

Yeah Cornhusker those KCI mags are surprisingly good being a cheap clone right? Probably because they are making them for their own service use, not just for export and sale.

I got the LW barrel 40 to 9 for my glock 22 last week and no problems what so ever. runs great.
