I've been curious about both of these revolvers for a long time, and have finally decided to research the purchase of one or both. I'd like to know if anyone has had experience with either one and can share your opinions?

The Mateba looks to be an ideal gun for my preference. I tend to shoot my Redhawk single action only and the Mateba's automatic hammer cocking and cylinder advance are appealing. Also the lower bore line looks like it would reduce recoil somewhat. Anyone have any experiences as far as accuracy and reliability?

The Medusa appeals to me because of it's engineering. I'd like to add one to my collection just because of that. I shoot a lot of the different .38's from .380 to .38 Super, .38 spl, etc., so the ability to shoot whatever ammo I have at the time would make it a lot of fun at the range. How are these on accuracy with different cartridges?

Thanks for any input you can offer.

Not to cop out but - we have had some good threads on at least the Mateba in the past - tho no links to hand.

Do tho run a search on that at least and you may even get lucky too on the Medusa. This will hopefully provide you with a heap of info you are looking for.

Matebas are out of production, so you may have a hard time finding one.

Thanks for your replies, folks. I'll do a search and see what I come up with. I believe both revolvers are out of production now. I wish I had grabbed them back when they were still being made. Prices weren't too bad for either one, but I had other financial obligations at the time. The craving just never went away though. Thanks again.

Crosshair,

Togusa uses one because he "thinks" it is more reliable than an auto. The Major has always told him he can use the modern automatics because they are more reliable. Of course, the Matebas don't even have a decent looking compensator or famous top rib of the Pythons.

For that kind of money, I would buy several Smith PC revolvers....Wait a minute, I DID buy a whole bunch of Smith PC revolvers for the money......
I love revolvers for open carry, and a darned good 1911 or USP for concealed back-up.
