Fantastic article, the news recounts everyday our loss in combat but never why we are there.
Policing the Empire is a dangerous job.

Thanks for your service 280!280PLUS said:well, I made i through all that. Wow! I'll just go back to where I wondered why troops weren't placed in Iraq soon after Saddam started violating the treaty. I don't feel Bush NEEDED an excuse to get back in there, he had one waiting for him with Saddam's violations. That is why I feel all the rhetoric on WMDs and lying about them is moot. We had a good enough reason BEFORE all that was brought up, we didn't NEED lies about WMDs to go back in there. The Dems let the whole thing languish and fester for years, now they're fighting the solution to their incompetance tooth and nail.
To all my fellow vets, thanks for everything you've sacrificed. Every time I have a non vet squabble with me over prices and what my work is worth I just want to throttle them. I gave up 5 years of my life so they could have the freedom to try and belittle my abilities so they can try to "get a better price" out of me. It just happened to me again recently with a major "asshat" so it's still ringing my bell. No friggin' respect.
Or there was the time the old biddy told me, fresh out of the service, that she wouldn't rent an apartment to me because I had a beard and people with beards do drugs. But I know there are others out there who WERE worth the effort and for them I would do it again in a heartbeat. Incidentally, the ONLY organization that was the least bit interested in my "beard discrimination" case back there in 1981 was the NAACP, which I found to be somewhat amusing.

I know exactly how you feel. I'll be in 20 all told this spring and it still gets to me.
Tell me about it...And then, all of a sudden, I've got grey hair, and 20 years have flown by!
