I know there exist lots of removable mags for the SKS, in sizes up to 50 rounds. Why, I don't know, but I've seen that advertised.

Are there fixed magazines with capacities greater than 10 rounds available? If so, how reliable are they? And how much do they cost?

I have the 20 rds ones and the 5 rds ones (needed for hunting in some states).

The 5 rd one I have never worked well and took a bit of work to fit it.

Never tried the 20rd one that I have. It is made in china and should work well. However, I didn't like the way it hung down on the rifle when I held it against the sks, just me.

Not sure what they cost or where to get them now. However, if you're interested in a 20rd chinese made one let me know (PM me). I have one I'll sell ya.

My understanding is that the Chinese 20-round fixed mags only work with Chinese SKS's; I've read a LOT of posts about them not feeding worth a darn in SKS's of other nationalities, perhaps due to slightly different dimensions in the receivers.

There may also be 18 USC 922(r) issues, or there might not. Check into it before you install one, anyway.

It's amazing how an otherwise innocuous semi-auto rifle can have it's very own special set of restrictions just because it's cheap, isn't it?

FWIW, I'm currently bidding on a Yugo barrelled receiver. Looking to build myself a Fiberforce stocked trunk rifle. Franken-SKS style.

And yes, I know it's cheaper just to buy a $89 shooter grade from AIM. Just not as much fun.

Ohen, if I win the auction, I might be interested.

I've never had good experiences in general with both fixed and removeable more-than-10 mags in an SKS. Something generally doesn't quite line up with something else and none of the parts are happy campers. I've really only had the best luck with stock SKS's and if I want more rounds, that's why I bought an AK over an SKS in the first place. Basically everyone I've known with other-than-stock SKS has had some sort of feeding problem at least once.
