Norinco SKS Fixed magazine

I found a Norinco Paratrooper SKS locally. It has a 30 round detachable magazine and I'd like to convert it back to the factory fixed 10-round mag box.

Shouldn't there be a barrel of 10-round mags somewhere and does anyone know where to find that barrel?

Nice find! I have one and it's very handy.

WAIT!! Is it a factory job that uses AK mags? If it is I don't think the fixed 10-rounder will fit. Besides which the factoy AK mag one is hard to find! You can find 5, 10 & 20 round AK mags that will work in it. You need to buy it in any case.

VA27, unfortunately it's not set up for AK mags. I'm really fond of stripper clips though.

I bought one of those back when you could buy them all day long for $125 new in the box and buy a bunch of yellow box ammo to go with them. I never was tempted to modify it. Aside from having a really awful trigger it's a fun little gun that packs a decent punch.

My Norinco paratrooper set me back $115. I have the chicom 20 round mag with a commie star on it. Still have the 10 rounder and I'm keeping it. I might wanna take the 5 rounder out of my SKS rifle and put the 10 rounder in sometime for some reason.

That Chicom 20 round mag took some dremel tooling to get to feed right. It feeds 100 percent now.

I used to could get all sorts of stuff for SKSs from places like Sportsman's Guide, Centerfire Systems, and other outfits. I haven't looked in a long time.

Get one of the 20 round fixed magazines, with the star on the side. Very cool.

I remember seeing those 20 round mags in Shotgun News.

You made a good buy. Around here I've been seeing beat-up Yugos going for around $350, and good Chinese surplus selling for $400.
