Has anyone ever seen or heard of an extended mag for the Ruger Mark III? I have searched online and can't find anything. Surely someone has tried it? Is there something about this gun that makes in unsuitable for an aftermarket extended mag?

Thanks

It's a single column straight mag stuffed full of rimmed cartridges.

Try stacking more then 10 of them on a table top sometime.

It's like stacking greased BB's.

The longer the stack gets, the worser the straight line gets!

There is a limit to what will work.
And in single-column .22 mags, 10 is about it.

I disagree with this statement entirely. a traditional magazine pressed witrh a spring, providing most of the force to the center of the magazine... now. if this magazine was modified and fed with a flat spring that pulls rather than pushes, and works on torque, one could feed them indefinitly until the weight got too great for the "spring" to pull. so. i would like to see a barrel mag. That'd be incredibly fun.

Well good for you!

However, if it were as simple as you state:
And people were willing to pay more for an extra magazine then the gun it goes in:
And it didn't foul too badly to work with cheap .22 RF ammo in a few hundred rounds:
And it didn't take a gunsmith, or a return to the factory to take it apart and clean it?

You would see some manufacturer offering them at some point over the last 100 years since .22 semi-auto pistols have been around.

But you haven't.

TheBurns, that works for a wider 10/22 style magazine, but the mkI/II/III magazine is pretty narrow, no room for the roll-up spring.

The roll-up pulling spring system does work, there just isn't room for it in most pistol grips, and I think it still ends being curved after a certian point, at least all the ones I have are curved.

Back in the 80's high capacity mags were made by Mec-Gar and Ramline.
Mec-Gar made blue steel 12 rd'ers.
Ramline made:
12 rd plastic
14 rd plastic
12 rd stainless steel.
The AWB put an end to production of these mags.Since the expiration of the AWB in '04 no one has produced hi cap mags for any of the Ruger .22 auto pistols.
