At my Nephews a couple of days ago, and he showed me a magazine he had for his Glock. It held 30 rounds.

Some questions I have are;
Does a extended magazine feed OK?
Would the added weight help with felt recoil?
I have a Kimber Grand Raptor, are extended magazines available for .45acp?

Really just curious if anyone else has extended magazines, and what are your opinions.

The highest cap for single stack M1911 mags are 10+1 that will be reliable.

I remember 20-rd stick mags as well as a 40-rd drum-fed mag by Pro-mag that you should run away from.

Glock makes a 32-round mag for the Model 18 select-fire full-auto pistol.

It also fits all other 9mm Glocks.

All other extended mags for other guns are aftermarket junque of one grade or another that may or may not work.

I'd suggest practicing speed reloads with a 1911.

You can stuff 4-5 mags through them faster then loading up a 32 round mag once.

Does a extended magazine feed OK?

A range buddy of mine with two 33 round Glock mags and a G19 reports that they change the balance of the gun, making the muzzle climb a bit more when fully loaded. They can be unreliable with one handed firing for this reason - similar to limp wristing. Takes a firm two-handed grip (or very sturdy forearm muscles) on his equipment to go through one with no malfunctions.

Would the added weight help with felt recoil?

The added weight reduces the backward "push" of the gun in recoil, but as stated above it can increase muzzle flip if the user doesn't do their part to control it. Not a hard thing at all to do, but it is a consideration.

I'll let others crack at your question RE 1911 mags, as I'm not aware of any OEM mags larger than 10 rounds for that platform.
