What RC model says....HOWEVER,
if your dominant eye is the left, but you're shooting right, (or vice versa), then you'll actually find it EASIER to have a slightly magnified scope (1.5 or 2 power or more), rather than a 1x, because with a 1x, both eyes will see the target and the target will look the same through both eyes, so it's harder to figure out which one is the real reticle through your non-dominant eye, whereas, if your dominant non-shooting eye is trying to take over, you can easily tell the target that is 1.5x larger than normal and shoot "at" that larger magnified target, rather than the target you see with your dominant/non-shooting eye in a regular 1x view. But yes, a 1x should give you very very good eye relief (at least 5", and possibly up to 10 or even 12"), though not unlimited like a dot sight, and yes you can shoot with both eyes open, unless you're aiming with your non-dominant eye.
