I noticed today Nikon has a 1x20 Buckmasters scope available. Since there's no magnification would that allow you to aquire a target with both eyes open as with a tube sight?

Just a followup- I realize the eye relief will not be unlimited, just wondering if it will be the same with both eyes open.

Since there's no magnification your eyes will both see (nearly) the same image.. so I would think so.

Who knows?

1x may mean .9x or 1.2x or any number of other things.

Personally, I can shoot both eyes open up to about 4x with no problems.

Your master eye is going to be the one doing the looking & aiming anyway, regardless of the power of the scope.
And there is nothing you can do about it!

For me 1 or 2 x is fine for shooting with "both eyes" but at around 3 for me my dominate eye takes over and brain ignores the other. Also, I prefer the EER type scout scopes for low power scopes.

What RC model says....HOWEVER,

if your dominant eye is the left, but you're shooting right, (or vice versa), then you'll actually find it EASIER to have a slightly magnified scope (1.5 or 2 power or more), rather than a 1x, because with a 1x, both eyes will see the target and the target will look the same through both eyes, so it's harder to figure out which one is the real reticle through your non-dominant eye, whereas, if your dominant non-shooting eye is trying to take over, you can easily tell the target that is 1.5x larger than normal and shoot "at" that larger magnified target, rather than the target you see with your dominant/non-shooting eye in a regular 1x view. If that makes sense. If it doesn't, post or PM me.

But yes, a 1x should give you very very good eye relief (at least 5", and possibly up to 10 or even 12"), though not unlimited like a dot sight, and yes you can shoot with both eyes open, unless you're aiming with your non-dominant eye.
