Bushnell Banner 3-9x 40mm Red and Green Illuminated Crosshair Reticle Rifle Scope
3-9x 40mm - Illum Multi-X on AK47

This is what happened after 3 range trips... I felt the image was kinda strange. After a few rounds, this is what happened...

It's the second scope having this problem.

I thought this was a quality scope.... but it didn't last longer than a $30 scope...

Is this just a quality issue? Or improper mounting? Nikon Buckmaster had absolutely no problem on the same rifle, same mount (higher rings), after a year of use.

Just buy another one.

That way you can have one on the rifle, one going back for repair, and one coming back to you.

Or get a refund and invest in better glass.

not sure what rifle you have but I have seen top eject (SKS 7.62X39) tear up scopes with ejected shells. I see a nick in your focus ring so it looks like some kind of trauma to the scope.

Auto loaders are notorious for being hard on scopes. You have the recoil impulse, the action opening and smacking the back of the receiver, and the clunk as the bolt closes. That amounts to three shocks to the scope from each shot, as opposed to one from a manually operated gun. And the shocks are in opposite directions for the opening and closing movements.

Spring air-rifles are similarly notorious for destroying scopes, to the extent that there are scopes made specifically for that use. Maybe you could take a look at scopes made for air-rifles as a source of ruggedized optics?

IMHO

Burris advertizes their scopes are stout enough for air rifles.
