I bought a scope mount from Freedom Arms, cut and finished it to stop at the point the barrel meets the frame, cut a slot in the mount where I needed one to make the Ultra Dot L/T sit where I wanted, and presto. One neat little Red Dot setup. I really like it.

E Author Brown sells a J-Point mount for a Freedom Arms pistol. (most likely for the 83, but I could probably adapt it) The J-Point is a nice little sight and is a bit smaller than the Ultra Dot L/T, but after getting the Ulta Dot mounted it is not to big on the gun and I like it a bit better than the J-Point anyway. It has a bigger, clearer window and a bit better dot.

I am really going to enjoy this set up. I love to shoot open sights, but they are hard to see and it is aggrevating to miss because I can't see. No excuses here, it will be all me. :)

Might consider FA's fiber optic front sight. I put one on my revolver, because I too can't see the sight as well as I used to. With due respect; the dot scope on the FA (especially the 97 model) is an abomination. How will you carry it in the field? The 97 was meant to be the ideal "woods/walk" revolver as I see it. I bet it is easy to shoot with the dot scope though.

abomination

Going blind is an abomination. Wait till your eyes start letting you down. I have to agree though, it is an abomination. The things we never thought we would do though. I hate to do it, but that's the price we pay for old eyes. :)

Crimson Trace laser sights give me a boost against the depredations of aging. I keep meaning to adapt lasers to revolvers other than S&W N-frames. FA would be a good candidate for that.
