If your 586 is a -4 or -5 it should be factory drilled and tapped. An earlier model will require a gun smith to D&T for the Weigand mount, or use a no gunsmith mount from someone like B-Square. Two of the three screw holes are visible by just swinging out the cylinder and looking at the underside of the top strap.

I really like the Weigand mounts, and use them exclusively on all my optics mounted guns.

It is a dash 4 and yes, I can see the holes when I swing out the cylinder. AWESOME. Thanks Joe. (50 Yr old eyes myself)

Now, do I just remove the factory rear sight and how is that done? It looks like the small screw in the front of the sight would do it. Thanks. :)

Just loosen (raise) the rear elevation screw until it almost comes out of the sight body. Remove the front screw, then slide the whole sight assembly off the back of the frame.

You can unscrew the elevation screw all the way out, to make it a little easier to see what is going on with the hidden spud, but it really isn't needed.

Good Luck...

Joe
