I've had my Baby Eagle Compact .40 for 2-3 months now. Been firing it frequently and have a couple of thousand rounds through it. First 300 or so rounds I would get some form of a jam or failure to feed every 15-20 rounds or so. Since then, I haven't had a single jam but here's where it gets interesting. With some ammo (Winchester white box, UMC, Federal American Eagle, and NRA house ammo), it will fail to go fully into battery about 5-10% of the time if dirty. With a minor thumb assist the round gets up in there. I don't have this problem but maybe 1 in a 50-200 rounds with Magtech. I'm assuming its the ammo powder levels or something. Can someone clarify to me what is causing this and if there are any solutions. I haven't had this problem with Speer, Cor-bon, or Federal Hydrashok which I have put about a total of 500 rounds combined of those. I thank you in advance.

A customer at the shop I was working at had a similar problem after replacing the factory springs with wollf extra power springs(all of the springs) there were no more problems as long as he remembered to switch the recoil spring every 1500 to 2000 rnds.

Replacing the springs is a very good suggestion.

So long as you don't have serious scratches on the brass, seriously deformed HP nose cavities or shavings you shouldn't be too concerned. On the other hand I've had pistols that shaved brass that worked 100 percent of the time even when filthy.

I had the same problem with a Kimber Pro Carry. A spring change cleared it right up.
