FAL in .223

Didn't Argentina manufacture a 5.56mm version of the FN-FAL?

Is DSA's design completely new or based on the Argentine version?

Is this built on the same sized gun as the .308s? Are they scaled down to accomodate the .223 round?

THR member Rennaissancemann has a FAL conversion (done by Meeper) in .223. You can read about it in this thread - it may still be available, if you're interested. He also posted a picture of it.

If I'm not mistaken, Miss Tamara has one in .223 that was built on an aluminum FAL reciever.

I had posed the question to DSA a while back on a .223 FAL and the last I had heard that they weren't currently working on one, but that they were getting ready to make them in .243 and .260?

Anyway...it would be nice provided that it made use of current AR mags with little or no mods. I'd like to see DSA make one in 7.62x39 that made use of AK mags.

The DSA .223 FAL was announced at the 2004 SHOT Show. It looks mostly like a normal FAL but with a smaller mag well that accepts standard AR15/M16 mags. I don't think it's going to be available very soon, because DSA is focused on launching their new line of AR-15s. Maybe later this year?

DSA currently sells Hunter series FALs in .243 Win and .260 Rem. At SHOT, they also showed FALs in .300 WSM and .499 cal!
