Ok so I picked up a FAL inch mag today at a local shop ($15), since I can't seem to find any US made metric floorplates or mags for sale anywhere. So I decided to retrofit this Inch mags to fit my metric reciever. An hour of heavy filing and a little grinding I had it fitting just like my metric mag (see pics). The image with the rifle shows the Inch mag neatly inserted into a metric reciever. The image with two mags shows the inch mag after a lot of filing next to a metric one. The last picture is a close-up of the inch mag before any work was done on it, can you identify it?
Now let me say I don't plan on shooting the gun with this inch mag in it. I wanted to make it fit so I can buy the US made inch floorplate for it and call it a compliance part. I figure when I shoot the rifle I'll just use the metric mags. (is that cheating?)
