Ok so I picked up a FAL inch mag today at a local shop ($15), since I can't seem to find any US made metric floorplates or mags for sale anywhere. So I decided to retrofit this Inch mags to fit my metric reciever. An hour of heavy filing and a little grinding I had it fitting just like my metric mag (see pics). The image with the rifle shows the Inch mag neatly inserted into a metric reciever. The image with two mags shows the inch mag after a lot of filing next to a metric one. The last picture is a close-up of the inch mag before any work was done on it, can you identify it?

Now let me say I don't plan on shooting the gun with this inch mag in it. I wanted to make it fit so I can buy the US made inch floorplate for it and call it a compliance part. I figure when I shoot the rifle I'll just use the metric mags. (is that cheating?):D

I don't see the point. Inch mags are more expensive than Metric. Why not sell the Inch and buy a couple of Metric mags? I have an Inch FAL by Century that takes some Bren 30 rounder mags with a little filing on the back, but mainly uses standard Metric 20 rounders.

Like I said in the original post, this mag is not intended for use, its just so I can add another US compliant part to my rifle project. I have lots of Metric mags but non of them contain any US made parts.

I just can't seem to find any metric mags with US parts for sale anywhere and I need to add 6 US parts to my rifle to make it 922r compliant. I did find US marked floorplates for Inch mags online so I bought one of those for $2 and will replace the floorplate on the Inch mag I bought, thus making it an additional 922r compliant part. $15 and a little filing is cheap in compared to what most US made parts would cost. Now with century stock kit, reciever, US made gas piston and US made mag floorplate it will be a fully compliant rifle.

That's the point:D
