My oldest son's turkey this fall. He was about a week short of being 8 years old.

We still have quail to look forward to and there is always a chance that the pigs will come out to play when we are there.

I hope you had as good a season as we did.

A wise old man once told me, if you hunt with them you won't have to hunt for them. You are a very lucky man, nice deer and turkey.

Congratulations! It looks like good times were had by all.

Tell me more about that lever action your oldest is hunting with. It look very similar to what I am setting up for deer hunting this year.

It's a Marlin 336W. XS Systems Scout mount and ghost ring sights. Simmons ProHunter 2x pistol scope in the lowest Warne quick release Weaver rings. The lowest Leupold QRW quick release rings are very slightly ( about 0.020" ) lower. Either one seems to work fine. For the kiddos I added the Fulton Armory strap-on adjustable cheek rest because their faces are smaller so I needed to raise them up a little to be the right height for the scope. Butler Creek flip-up scope covers are on the scope. Factory Marlin sling because I didn't take the time to change it to something better.

The ammo he used was Remington Managed Recoil .30-30 factory loads. You wouldn't need those but they work great for kids.
